The legendary Gorgon Medusa spends a solitary life on her island of Sarpedon, interrupted only by the occasional expedition of foolish humans seeking to slay her for fame and riches. Everything changes when one such expedition brings along an unusual woman — a priestess of Athena born blind, and utterly unafraid of the Gorgon. Forced into an unexpected coexistence on the small island, the two dissimilar women must navigate opposing ideologies, the interference of mortal and divine outsiders, and emotions neither anticipated. As their bond deepens, the gods themselves take notice — and gods rarely make things simpler.

The legendary Gorgon Medusa spends a solitary life on her island of Sarpedon, interrupted only by the occasional expeditions of foolish humans trying to slay her. When one such expedition brings along a blind priestess of Athena who is not afraid of the Gorgon, the two are forced into an unexpected coexistence. As they grow closer despite their opposing ideologies, outsiders both mortal and divine begin to take great interest in them — and complicate everything.

The battle for Sarpedon is over. To save the blind girl's life, Medusa broke her exile — an act of selflessness that earned her a cruel punishment and separated the pair completely. Eugenia awakens in an unfamiliar city, confused and hurt but desperate to find the Gorgon again. Her journey back to Sarpedon is intercepted by a trial laid upon her by the gods, taking her to the city-state of Athens. Political conflict brews within its walls, and the machinations that await the priestess will push both her faith and her determination to their limits.

Yet when their opposing ideologies clash again, bad turns to worse — the young scholar Typhos returns with a second expedition, intent on taking Eugenia back and ending the Gorgon once and for all.
