After being killed by a high-velocity tree, Arlo is transported to a new world where those brave and talented enough to conquer ancient Delves are rewarded with incredible power and abilities. Unfortunately, there is no tutorial. He is immediately forced to tackle a Delve set to the highest difficulty with a party of strangers, with no armor, no weapons, and no knowledge of the world at large. Determined not to die again, Arlo dumps everything into Fortitude rather than his highest stat, Intelligence. Arlo and his new party, Fortune's Folly, have overcome the specter of Orexis — though the avatar's goal was still achieved. As they wait to see what consequences this will have on the world, the party sets out to conquer Delve after Delve at a record-setting pace, seeking answers about the mysterious System phases and better weapons for the threats they've discovered. After a year of disappointment, they finally learn where answers can be found — but reaching them means traveling to a foreign nation on the brink of war. Can the party convince the clashing factions to let them through, or will they have to cut a bloody path to the truth?

When Fortune's Folly slew a mountain-sized monstrosity of teeth and tendrils, the next obvious step was to go spelunking down its throat. When they found a foreboding portal inside the corpse, they walked right through it. That's just how they do things. Level 10 has been reached. Now, to bring the world one step closer to the second System phase, Arlo and crew must survive the legendary Delve known as Deijin's Descent. To have any hope against the avatar threat, the world's Delvers need the tools this next phase will unlock — even if that means making deals with the enemy, and even if the world outside is passing them by faster and faster.

Phase two is unlocked. Hysteria has been captured and the dimensional kingdom of Closetland has been born — though with the loss of everyone's favorite hot spring, the victory is bittersweet. Now Fortune's Folly heads to their meeting with the Littan Empress, who makes them an offer they don't want to refuse. Before they can accept, they'll need to deal with the unwanted gifts Hysteria left behind and seek out the allies promised by the avatar Avarice — the kind with wings, scales, and a compulsive hoarding disorder.
