King's League is more than a game — it's a way of life. For recently expelled college dropout Dirk Wilson, picking up and reselling other players' scraps from cleared dungeons and botched side quests is the only thing keeping him off the streets. Tired of ramen noodles and past-due notices, Dirk decides that if he's going to make something of himself, it'll be within the game — taking advantage of real-life payouts from selling in-game goods on King's League's River Market. But the game leaves little margin for error, and Dirk's virtual problems grow as large as his real-life ones when he uncovers a powerful conspiracy that impacts players from level one to level 99.

Dirk's epic run of success in King's League has drawn new players to Dawnshire — but not all of them are there to play nice. Rumors about mysterious Graydon's Armor pieces are quietly spreading across the Realms, and soon someone attempts to take everything Dirk has. The game turns personal as hidden threats make his life miserable in and out of the game. Following the clues leads Dirk to King's League's cyberpunk expansion realm, 86-Neon, a world of flying cars, powerful weapons, and ruthless crime.

Graydon's Armor is bestowing its power on players throughout King's League — and not all of them think like Dirk. When a vicious player-killer begins to wreak havoc in his corner of the game, Dirk gathers his friends and creates a balanced party capable of standing up to some of the game's toughest challenges. As he helps his allies level up, he discovers that finding Graydon's Sight wasn't just good luck — it was the start of a game-changing development that will impact every player in King's League.

Dirk has lost Graydon's Sight to another player — the first time since finding it that he's had to navigate the game without it. He discovers that Graydon isn't the only god with armor to bestow, and a race against the clock begins to recover the missing pieces. The player in possession of Graydon's Sight is using it to take over a realm called Sky Raiders. Dirk and his party set off for the steampunk skies, where being a pirate captain in a cutthroat realm isn't all it's cracked up to be.

The hunt for God armor is ramping up as players flock to Dawnshire and other Champions' strongholds. Dirk is already facing an unsettling realization: Dead Hunter isn't just a good player — he's a master. Then the unthinkable happens: King's League developers upload a patch that doesn't go as planned, turning the game upside down. Dirk is now Spyce, and he gets more than a new wardrobe. As the group continues to quest through unfamiliar terrain in unfamiliar avatars, they have no choice but to dive headfirst into the chaos.

For the first time in King's League history, the developers have brought Dirk back from the dead. More focused than ever, he prepares to bring his best to the tournament — until a player with no armor nearly takes everything from him. When Graydon throws another wrench into the situation with a new vision, Dirk and his friends must travel to parts unknown. All roads lead to the tournament, and the trials are just beginning — not just for Dirk, but for friends and enemies alike.
