An emaciated and wounded young wolf clings to life in the toxic Bone Pits, avoiding unnatural horrors while seeking sustenance. When the wolf finds a dying elven adventurer named Emhreeil, it seizes the chance to learn human speech from the helpless being. Now Emhreeil is the wolf's de facto companion as it struggles to escape the Bone Pits, fighting vicious predators and evolving in self-awareness with every battle.

Wounded and fighting for survival in a dungeon consumed by civil war, the wolf must learn to control its shapeshifting abilities to find its lost elven companion Emhreeil. Meanwhile, Emhreeil — now a vampire who feeds on anything to survive — joins forces with her friend Katherine amid the escalating conflict between dungeon factions. But Baron Manos Ironheart, a ruthless dungeon lord, has learned of the extraordinary beast's existence. The bounty he places on the wolf's head tempts every merciless hunter in the dungeon. With each confrontation, the hunters unknowingly strengthen the wolf's evolution.
