Gifted with metahuman powers in a world full of capes and villains, Tori Rivas kept away from the limelight, preferring to work as a thief in the shadows. When she is captured trying to rob a vault belonging to a secret guild of villains, she is offered a hard choice: prove she belongs or be eliminated. Apprenticied to one of the world's most powerful and supposedly dead villains, she is thrust into a strange world where the lines dividing superheroes and criminals are more complex than they seem. Her education will not be easy — there are capes, fellow apprentices, and a civilian cover to manage, to say nothing of those who would see the guild destroyed entirely.

After her apprenticeship ends and her place in the guild is secured, Tori's life was supposed to get simpler. Instead, a poorly timed errand sees her caught in the debut of a new team of capes wearing an all-too-familiar name. Thrust into the spotlight, she must navigate unwanted fame and suspiciously superheroic new neighbors while keeping up her villainous enterprises. Ambitious gangs, mechanized traps, and cape brawls are only the beginning — behind the scenes, a hidden enemy works to settle an old score that has burned for decades, one that endangers not just Tori and the guild, but the world itself.

With a new product line launched and an updated suit to test, Tori Rivas is ready to focus on her work — until an eruption of power from elsewhere in the multiverse sends monsters bursting into her world, putting the young villain in the crosshairs of an unexpected invader. As if being pursued by an unknown entity from outside her own reality weren't enough, there is also product development, exploring her suit's new capabilities, and extradimensional monsters appearing without warning. Meanwhile, the Rookstone escapees are hatching their own schemes — including a primal force whose goal cannot be denied, no matter what stands in his way.
