Marcus spent his life in a hospital bed — and when that life ended, a god from another world offered him a fresh start. With nothing to lose, Marcus accepts, arriving in Wentaria gifted with magic, broken stats, and a curse that complicates everything. He soon learns that the gods of this world haven't spoken in centuries, and that his unique healing gift marks him as something the world has been waiting for. With companions who may or may not like him, Marcus navigates dungeons, monsters, wars, and divine politics on his way to understanding why he was brought here.

After dying in a hospital, Marcus is offered a second life in the world of Wentaria by a god who wants him there. Gifted with a rare healing ability but saddled with broken stats and a troublesome curse, Marcus joins a group of adventurers to answer three questions: why he was brought here, what a battle medic truly is, and why his character sheet is so fundamentally broken.

Marcus and his party escape from Estrium as war begins. To raise an army they must power-level their way through the Scarred Lands — territory only veteran adventurers dare enter — tackling dungeon after dungeon while new allies join and the list of enemies who want Marcus to fail keeps growing.

Arriving in Verassis, Marcus receives the empty city of Rez-Ingel as the base for his army-in-progress. But repopulating a city and recruiting soldiers requires winning over a hostile king, navigating brutal politics, and learning to lead people who have every reason not to follow him.

With Verassis secured, Marcus rushes to aid Sonaria under assault — while Mavis breaks away on a separate quest for a cure to Marcus's worsening wound. Back at Rez-Ingel, Quin must establish laws and recruit commanders as the city prepares for the inevitable battle ahead.

One kingdom saved, another fallen. With little time to secure the citizens of Venek, Marcus also faces a revelation from the gods about the true nature of the war — a truth that may shatter his party's unity. And with level fifty within reach, the labyrinth calls to him, along with an unexpected proposition from Void, the ruler of the underworld.

Reaching level fifty has transformed Marcus's abilities — but also stripped him of his most important skill, leaving him vulnerable at the worst possible time. The war pushes on regardless, and Marcus must travel to the volcano-scorched wasteland of Dark's Domain while wrestling with a painful question: can he bring himself to fight Nala, the guard who has become Void's Champion?

Marcus's next destination is the vast plains of Sonaria's barbarian tribes, but first he must resolve the Dark Elves' crisis in their ash-ridden homeland. A betrayal looms, dark forces close in, and Marcus will see friends fall before reaching the open plains — where the storm gathering against him will test the party like nothing before.

Seven countries secured and one to go: Estrium, where it all began. Void has manipulated and terrified Marcus at every step, but the Voice will not be denied. Yet Void still holds cards — including a horde of undead and the question of what Nala and Averick will do when Marcus marches on the capital. The final confrontation is at hand.
