About four weeks ago the world simply turned. One day: iPhones, Mickey Mouse, hamburgers. The next: magic and monsters. And humans became players — with levels, items, and classes. Pretty ironic considering how many times parents told their kids to quit gaming and experience real life. Then real life grabbed everyone by the throat, and it was the gamers who were prepared. A story about a guy, his best friend, a loyal golden retriever, a little girl, and her beloved cat — plus copious amounts of gore, legendary weapons, and a lich king who needed slaying.

About four weeks ago the world simply turned. One day: iPhones and hamburgers. The next: magic and monsters. Humans became players — with levels, items, and classes. It was the gamers who were prepared. A story about how one man reached level thirteen in a single day, mastered Eternal Flame and Absolute Zero, summoned a gigaclops, tamed a tarasque, forged the ancient Frostcaliber, and slew the lich king — plus a golden retriever, a little girl, and her cat. Practically heartwarming, all except for the copious amounts of gore.

Rebuilding civilization might be the toughest battle yet. D.C. may be secured, but the threats are not over — this time more insidious and dangerous than ever before. August King, New President of Washington D.C. and Maybe America, must find a way to rebuild a community, develop infrastructure, keep leveling, and save his people from a deadly magical virus. The game maker might have turned his back on the world, but August hasn't.

D.C. has gained the attention of more than one angry game maker and countless monsters. When a set of mysterious twins ask for August's help, he can't refuse — and his party could use a change of scenery. The show hits the road from D.C. to Cleveland, with more stops along the way than you can shake a legendary weapon at. In the end, it won't be about the journey. It'll be about the levels.

Playtime is over. The game maker has made his final move, pitting August not only against the creatures of Earth, but the creatures of the cosmos. It's time for a battle royale. Even as he fights for not just D.C. but the world, August can't forget who the real enemy is. Sometimes, you just have to wake up and fight a god. It's endgame — and he doesn't intend to be the one who dies.
