Liam is a down-on-his-luck gambler whose life is falling apart. When loan sharks come to collect, things end badly. But he gets another chance — by joining the Traveler Initiative, which promises the freedom to explore planets across the universe, a new body, and a slew of other benefits. Even in this strange afterlife, his gambling addiction rears its head, and he somehow ends up reincarnated as a slug. What follows is a largely solitary journey of evolution and survival, as Liam slowly crawls his way up from the bottom of the food chain.
