The Game of Gods

Charles woke up late to the apocalypse. The gods of old had gotten bored and redesigned the world, and half the population is already dead. Everyone else got a message in their vision. Only Charles got cursed — and a personal visit from a god. The game's reasons are not as simple as they first appear. Charles doesn't much care either way; he just wants to reach his sister. But the monsters of old are returning, and the Game of Gods has only just begun.

Charles and Alli have survived the first week of the apocalypse, but the world keeps changing and new monsters are being born. The enemies of humanity are revealed and begin to unite under the banner of hostile gods. Champions stand on both sides of the field — and it is time for some to die.

Things have begun to go awry for the gods of Earth, with control of the game slipping from their grasp. A new quest has begun, one that involves helping the world and potentially saving Charles and Charlotte's parents. Unhappy gods plot behind the scenes, desperate to enter the game before their time. Their interference awakens a powerful old spirit from a millennia-long slumber — a player none of the gods can control.

Gaia has taken control of the system the gods built for their game. Charles and Kira have rescued Alli from the goddess Alaria and returned to Earth with news of an impending threat. Back home, Charles and Charlotte are close to completing a goal months in the making — one that will open up the rest of the world. The gods had their chance. Earth belongs to Gaia now.

Charles is reaching the end of his rope. He never wanted to be a hero, and only his growing family has kept him going. Now even Gaia needs his help — the system the gods built is on the brink of collapse, overwhelmed by people and events the gods never anticipated. Charles finally has what he needs to rescue his parents. But at the end of it all lies a rogue god who has been using everyone for his own purposes — and his true motivation remains a mystery.
