Surviving the first days of a reality-warping apocalypse, William is a wreck hiding in an attic. The daily acid storms, floating elementals, and bizarre mutated animals are the least of his problems — the apocalypse has rules and a system much like those in video games, and he has no idea how any of it works. Staying alive isn't enough. William will need to bring other survivors together and build a fortification large enough for all of them if he ever wants to strike back at the things that took everyone he loved.

Staying alive isn't enough. William will need to bring other survivors together and build a fortification large enough for all of them if he ever wants to strike back at the things that took everyone he loved.

Weeks of pulling humans together and using his class to build a new safe home were shattered just when everyone should have been celebrating. For William, construction comes naturally — but his class needs constant fuel, and the knowledge he and all humans need to survive is hard-won. Now the world is changing again, and potential new friends and enemies will appear. Can he trust any of them when they're all here just trying to survive? The only way forward is to keep leveling and learning, and to save as many people as he can.

Surviving the muki war, things seem to be looking up as the last humans within the barony are brought into the fold. The Coblynau have their city restored, but will William's costly gambit pay off? As real answers finally start to reveal themselves, the sea unleashes new horrors, threatening everything he has built. To succeed, William must find a way to solve the ongoing problem of fueling his class, make use of all the gifts he's been given, and make a decision that will affect the lives of every human in the barony.
