When you're the sole surviving noble of a junior lineage, don't expect much of a future — or so some might think. Not Gregor. The way he sees it, being the last of a line means he can dispense with social niceties and do exactly what he wants. And if any unwelcome visitors have a problem with that, this summoner's got one or two surprises for them.

The only survivor of a junior branch, Gregor has managed to build a life for himself — many aristocrats work with him, and his expertise is valued. But a single event changes everything, and he finds himself at the Academy in the Empire's capital. The problem looks simple, but the solution is complicated. On top of which he has extra responsibilities now.

A turn off the beaten track and the life Gregor knew was in ruins. Then out of nowhere: an apprentice and a move to the capital, entry to the Academy of Magic, and hours spent in the library trying to eradicate a magic bond. None of it went the way he expected. Not by a long shot.

With all past mistakes put right, Gregor can finally breathe easy. Time to start a family — but that means establishing a new line. The question is whether anyone will let a new clan see the light of day. If they try to stop him, this dark summoner has the perfect answer.

With every passing month, Gregor is cementing his clan's position, but not everything is smooth. The changes going on with him raise more questions, and no one seems to be rushing to give answers. He can't even say if he's human anymore. Do his powers have a limit? If he were to gather up the shards of the Mark of Power — what then?
