Brandon Ferryman went out for a burrito and woke up dead on the side of a road, chosen by a pumpkin-headed god of death to run a very special establishment: the Coffin Hotel, a place that exists between worlds. Now he has to fight monsters, free trapped spirits, and keep the guests comfortable — all while gaining power he never asked for and trying not to lose his head in the process.

Brandon Ferryman went out for a burrito and wound up dead, chosen by a pumpkin-headed god of death, fate, and justice to run the Coffin Hotel — a supernatural establishment that exists between worlds. Now he's fighting monsters, freeing spirits, and managing an establishment he is very much not qualified to run.

Brandon's boss — the god of Autumn, Death, and Justice — appears unexpectedly with a new assignment involving a dangerous artifact and three monstrous women to watch over. Dead people, demons, lizard folk, and corrupted monsters arrive at the front door. A mysterious VIP is en route. And a darkness from Brandon's past has decided now is a good time to resurface.

Things are going well at the Coffin Hotel — soul pennies flowing, staff happy, expansion plans in motion. Then: horrific monsters planning a raid, pages from an unholy book that could end the world, monstrous bikers terrorizing guests, a deal with a demon, and someone close to Brandon in genuine danger. The good news is he has burritos.

The hotel's reputation is growing and business is booming. But Brandon's boss wants a dangerous artifact acquired, the mayor wants him to house students of the mystic arts, unexpected guests keep showing up, and he must prepare the hotel to host a meeting between dark gods. Meanwhile his dreams have taken a deeply unusual turn — and an evil that can shatter worlds is on its way.
