Surgecaller

Huon is weak — a surgecaller who escaped into the wilds with only one goal: survive. Now he is Oathbound, forced to fight in an arena and become stronger than he ever thought possible. As he realizes he can grow powerful, the need for revenge fills his heart and a new goal forms: kill the dragon rider, the Immortal of Fire. To succeed, he'll have to advance beyond anything the realm has ever seen — in a world where surgecallers cultivate essence to strengthen their weapons, enhance their bodies, and wield elemental magic.

Huon has reached the rank of Squire — the first step on his road to power — but he's still far behind where he needs to be. Oathless once more, he ventures out of the Everlasting King's realm with Liona, hoping to find challenges to spur on their advancement. But freedom isn't easy to keep, and their enemies pursue them even into new lands.

Huon doesn't want to be a murderer. He has no choice. Forced to become an Honourbound soldier in the Everlasting King's army, Huon struggles to do what is right when his actions are completely out of his control. He has attained Knighthood and is the strongest he's ever been — but his advancement means nothing while oathbound. Oaths have been broken before, though, and even while forced to fight for a cause he doesn't believe in, he searches for a way to be free and continue toward his impossible goal.

To flee the Everlasting King, Huon, Liona, and Gale sail away from the Harolan continent, hoping to find safety somewhere they can advance without fearing for their lives. But no one has successfully made such a journey in over a thousand years. They'll soon find out why.

There are still two more rounds in the Tournament of Grace — two more opportunities for Huon and the crew of the Strong Wind to obtain boons from the Low and High Celestials of Taloniar. Huon has attained the rank of Champion faster than he ever imagined, but after what he learned from the Devil of the West about the Everlasting King, he has newfound zeal to reach even higher. To reach them fast enough, he'll have to win the Tournament of Grace — except the final match isn't what he thought, and someone from his past is eager to see him fail.

Huon has won the Tournament of Grace and received a high boon from each of the four Sentinels of Taloniar — but the gifts he receives won't be enough to protect him from the oncoming threat.

Huon and Liona have reached the rank of Immortal. On the world of Temtoria, they developed abilities long lost to the surgecallers in Harolan and Taloniar. But their journey is far from over. On their return, they must help their friends catch up to their level of strength, while pushing forward in their mission to defeat the Immortal Seven and the Everlasting King.

The Everlasting King has been dealt a blow — but the blow has only brought Huon and his allies to the King's attention. Though Huon has reached the rank of Low Celestial faster than anticipated, he fears his newfound strength won't be enough to protect his friends. As the Everlasting King's fleet prepares to sail for Taloniar, their only hope to prevent full-scale war is to find and destroy the King's stockpiles of stolen cores before the fleet reaches its destination.

Huon has less than one week to save those he cares about most. But in the world of Temtoria, time moves at a different rate, and those days stretch into months. Though Huon has managed to defeat a High Celestial, he still isn't ready to face the Everlasting King. Reunited with people from his past, he must teach them all he knows — because when the time comes, they'll only have one chance to defeat their enemy.
