After narrowly escaping the Reawakening, Angel successfully delivered Vanessa to Molten Ridges with the help of Captain Silver. He'd love nothing more than a year of rest and study, but he knows there can be no peace until the Reawakening are dealt with. The Buried Gods walk the Barren once more, and the Reawakening's plot runs far deeper than he ever imagined — a plan hundreds of years in the making, only months from coming to fruition, with only Angel standing in its way.

Angel and his team have the Key, and with it, a map to the Vault. Unfortunately, so does the Reawakening. The Barren teeters on the brink of destruction as the Buried Gods grow in power. Angel's race to restore Old World Magic is coming to an end, but with every step across the desert he learns how little he truly understood about the System and Soul's ultimate goals. One final clash will decide the fate of the Barren and Old World Magic itself.
