The colonies of the Faustian Chain have gone silent for decades. Captain Bill Gorman — smuggler, Fringe veteran, and one of the few people who knows the truth — has personally battled the alien invaders overrunning the human colonies. Now he and his crew must choose: fight or run.

The ant-like Skaintz have consumed the Faustian Chain and begun invading the Conclave. Captain Bill Gorman is called upon by Conclave rulers to scout the enemy as fleets and armies are launched in a desperate bid to stop the Skaintz before they devour humanity.
