When Chronicles of Retha experiences a software malfunction, Kit is trapped in the game without a way to log off — stuck as a defective elf dancer built as a prank. The only escape is defeating the game's ultimate villain. With a party of low-leveled misfits and the occasional reluctant help of top player Solus Miles, Kit must fight her way through some of the worst Retha has to offer.

Kit and her party have two of the four seals needed to face Malignus. The remaining seals lie in zones far too dangerous for their level, and defeating the final boss will require uniting guilds that are currently rioting across the game world. Kit refuses to give up — but is their combined strength enough?

Kit escaped Chronicles of Retha — then chose to go back for the players left behind. To trigger a system-wide logout, the end-game boss must be defeated, something that has never been done. With the top guilds skeptical, Kit turns to the game's own NPCs as allies. But Retha has changed since she left, and the altered world tests her veteran knowledge like never before.
