Pilgrim

Danzen Ravja was abandoned at birth and raised by the Diyu Brotherhood to be an assassin. After one last disastrous job, he retreats to remote Genshin Valley, hoping to disappear and rebuild an old monastery. But his former teacher has put a contract on his life, and Danzen carries a dark secret: he is half-demon, and any spilled blood unleashes a horde of demons that will slaughter everyone around him.

Retiring peacefully in Genshin Valley was never a real option. To protect the valley he now calls home, Danzen and his yokai companions head west to confront the Diyu Brotherhood directly. On his return, he plans to begin cultivating his echo — bending his inner power through a fallen heaven — in hope of gaining control over his demons. But his demon half-brother is already on his way.

When his monastery grows too crowded, Danzen travels north with his yokai companions to find space to deepen his cultivation. New enemies lurk around every corner, and a sudden complication arrives: his father — the ruler of Diyu, of hell itself — has warmed to the idea of Danzen inheriting his throne.

Danzen is determined to rebuild Sunyata, the fallen heaven, and wants nothing to do with his demon father's throne. But his half-brother Nomtoi, jealous of their father's attention, frees seven of the worst demonic beings in existence to thwart him. Danzen must decide whether to risk everything by allying with a dangerous old enemy or face his brother's unleashed evils alone.

Danzen and his companions have stopped some of his brother Nomtoi's Seven Evils, but two — Uchi and Kitazawa — prove nearly impossible to overcome. A new conflict emerges around how to rebuild heaven, demanding cooperation among factions who don't see eye to eye. And there are always more assassins, cultists, and a yokai dragon terrorizing the northern passage to contend with.

Danzen's group heads west to collect Sunyata remnants, hoping to use them to rebuild the fallen heaven. But a fallen angel who knows more than he's letting on complicates their mission. The final Evils unleashed by Danzen's demonic brother will challenge him in ways he hasn't yet faced, and a single fatal mistake could cost him his companions.

Standing over the corpse of an old friend, Danzen resolves to rebuild heaven whatever it costs. He has reached the highest cultivable power level in the Kishu Kingdom — but he's nowhere near strong enough to face his demon father and jealous brother. A past instructor, a resurrected Evil, and a mysterious performer with bladed hand fans all stand in his way. Beyond them lies a journey into hell itself to find the final three Fatebricks.

Danzen descends into Diyu in search of the Fatebricks of Sunyata, straight into the heart of the underworld. Past enemies, demonic family members, and new rivals await in this eighth installment of the Pilgrim series.
