Phase Shift

A system message appears worldwide: a Quantum Phase Shift has been selected to "increase habitability." Expected survival rate: 1–5%. Troias Drakos awakens to find that the world he knew is gone. Most of Earth's life was killed in an instant, and those who survived have been granted powers that seem almost magical — though the monsters of this new reality are equally powerful or far more so. Only by uniting and learning to use their new abilities will humanity survive. Troias has been given a unique set of powers. If he is to have any chance, he must master them and become a true Spirit Warrior.

Troias and Annalise survived the Shift, defeated the wendigo, and began gathering followers to safety. Now they must learn to manage their burgeoning empire — the difference between leading and ruling is proving a hard lesson. Troias must battle vortices of energy that affect his mind, deadly new creatures never seen on this world, and a monster that exceeds even his ability to defeat. In the Shift, life and death are in constant flux, and failure means the death of everyone he cares about.

Death is the one true constant in the Shift — something Troias has learned through relentless battles against monsters spawned from legends and nightmares. With Chicago liberated, Troias' new County has gained security and prosperity it's never experienced before. That prosperity brings problems: warlike neighbors, potential allies, new monsters, and the new President of the United States all demand his time and attention. A Shift upsurge brings fresh danger — and Troias must meet it with his Facets and his blade. But his most powerful weapon may be slowly killing him. He must choose between conquest and diplomacy, between keeping control and having faith in those around him. None of his choices are good ones.

The dragon Herald has been unleashed on the world, intent on obliterating humanity, and only Troias has the power to face the terrible beast and survive. And Herald isn't the only threat — enemies gather at the March's southern border, powerful Awakened Omegas resist humanity's expansion, and old foes linger at the borders with unknown intentions. Troias and Annalise face the deadliest opponents they've yet encountered. But even if they overcome these enemies, a final threat lurks: the Three, keepers of the Source and Herald's ultimate masters, have decided that Troias must die — and they'll stop at nothing, not even the destruction of entire planets, to make it happen.
