Danny's life was going well — a steady job, plans to buy his own place. That was until some rogue junk mail decided he needed a change of scenery. Now Danny has a new start in another world, and he needs to make sure he doesn't squander the opportunity.

Since arriving in his new world, Danny has died and been reincarnated, gained access to a mental sanctuary that ranks his skills, discovered he can do magic, gone to magic school, grown apple trees, been drafted into a secret paramilitary organization, tamed a dangerous pet, regrown an elf's ears, and saved his friends from a massive ritualistic spell. Then he passed out from blood loss. Now it's up to Cranny — the embodiment of Danny's split concentration — to get Danny fixed up before a slowly approaching zombie goblin turns dinner into something far worse.

Danny is finally headed back home to Diadem to see his family and settle some old wrongs. The men of Diadem have been sacrificing their potential for the sake of the country long enough — and Danny believes he has the perfect solution.
