At eight years old, Weldin died in a Nexus Rift far above his level — but that was not quite the end. A soul from Earth slipped into his empty body, bringing a wealth of knowledge and an unexpected ability to unlock additional Affinities. Now he must survive a Rift where everything can kill him with a single mistake, navigate a world where powerful figures want to possess him for his unique Affinities, and somehow get through an Academy full of eight-year-olds who have just discovered they have incredible magical powers — all while building the most comprehensive Affinity collection he can.

After freeing himself from two treacherous Academy Instructors, Jeremy is stuck in a Rift with no easy way out. What he does have is an opportunity: by dispersing the energy inside Cores within the Rift, he can permanently increase his Abilities and potentially unlock the Fire Affinity. The complication is the massive sleeping dragon in the Rift, which is aware of Jeremy and deeply dislikes his presence. One wrong move and he is obliterated — but the world outside may prove even more dangerous than a Level 300 dragon.
