Having gained self-awareness while still in his mother's womb, Michael Kaiser knew this was his chance. Being born was only the first step — at one year old he would have a college degree, and at five he would be a billionaire. Except he nearly died in the first minutes of his life. This being a magical world with advanced technology, something had to be done. Michael Kaiser has the talent of Adaptation and nanomachines in his blood.

The surprise appearance of Michael's super-powerful great-grandmother has forced him to change his plans. One word from her is enough to destroy his beloved family — she is strong, and feared by many. But not by Michael Kaiser. His talent is Adaptation, and it's time to show the old woman how strong "rugrats" can be.

With the help of his great-grandmother's familiar, Baal, Michael overthrows a reign of tyranny at his preschool. That done, he finally has time for serious strength training — the "Core Snatching" skill he learned from the deadly sin Envy lets him devour the essence of freshly killed beings, and Baal suggests starting with demons. It's a good plan, until something much bigger than a demon comes hunting for him.

Michael made it out of the Abyss, bringing a relative back with him and acquiring great power along the way. Now he's ready for the next phase of his life — experimental elite school. He's a first-grader with nanomachines, and it turns out this is no ordinary school.

The divine judgment passed by the heavenly virtue Justice went Michael's way, and he avoided incineration. Now he can get back to a simple life as a magical first-grader — except monsters in search of a ruler are stirring in the forests, and a mysterious prowler going by the name of Mr. Hyde is at large in the city. There's danger everywhere, and nowhere to hide.

Both the attempted invasion by the forces of Hell and Mr. Hyde's rampage have been put down. Now for a long-planned holiday — except Michael ends up alone in New Moscow, being recruited by a secret bureau set up by the Emperor. He now has to save the planet from a descendant of Lucifer while mastering new demonic powers.

After the victory over the Lord of the Flies, Michael's family is finally getting its own estate. But the world's dark forces never rest — while he studies the Eastern School of Transcendence and prepares for an important implantation, a dangerous private military company known as "Beast" has started making a nuisance of itself. And why have the people of an entire nation of summoners started calling him "Shiva"?

After a long time away, Michael walks straight back into trouble — boys scheming against him, girls scheming against him too. And now he has to help fight for Baal's Domain down in the Abyss. At least after that he'll get a breather. Then again, the German Emperor apparently wants a word.

The German Emperor's connection to Michael turns out to be more complicated than expected. The question of how to reconcile this new life with his old one is one puzzle. How to handle the discoveries he has made about the Swarm of Nanomachines in his body is a whole different level of tricky.

The endless wars and family dramas are finally put to rest — for the time being. The important thing is that all of Michael's friends got into the Great Academy, and they can look forward to a life free of grief from pesky demons. Except the curriculum is a nightmare, there are resident bullies and schemers to defend against, and Michael's reputation is growing at incredible speed. The entire discipline office and teaching staff are on his back — and now a Russian princess who knows far too much about him is in pursuit.
