Mother of Learning

Zorian Kazinski is a teenage mage of humble birth attending his third year at Cyoria's magical academy. Driven and reserved, he resents his family and has no time for distractions. On the eve of Cyoria's annual summer festival, Zorian is murdered, then abruptly brought back to the beginning of the month. Trapped in a time loop with no clear end or exit, he must look both within and without to unravel the mystery — because the loop clearly wasn't made for his sake, and in a world of magic even a time traveler isn't safe from those who wish him ill.

As the months in the time loop accumulate, Zorian forms alliances with acquaintances old and new in an effort to solve the mystery of the loop and save his city — maybe even the world — from destruction. While his magical skills develop and he pursues more advanced and unusual forms of magic, Zorian must battle necromancers, fanatical cultists, and vicious creatures, all while avoiding the attention of a lich who could kill him permanently.

The time loop is coming to an end. With limited restarts remaining, Zorian and his allies must redouble their efforts to discover how to prevent the release of an ancient primordial being — before the loop expires and they are returned to the real world, where choices can't be undone.

A devastating attack by the lich Quatach-Ichl has left Zorian and Zach reeling as their remaining restarts tick away. As they recover, they make preparations for their final confrontations with Red Robe, the lich, a primordial being, and the invaders — all beneath the shadow of a question they can't answer: can Zorian and Zach both survive outside the time loop? When the loop is broken, sacrifices will be made, bonds will be tested, and trust will matter more than any magical skill — and even then, success is not guaranteed.
