Alana wasn't always a child of the Kingdom of Bergond — she hails from Earth, and an accident left her dead and reincarnated as a farmer's daughter in the hamlet of Orsken. Even by the rules of her strange new home, she is special: a young bard capable of mending wounds, counteracting poisons, and healing the sick through mana. As she cultivates her abilities under various magical teachers, war tears the empire apart and famine disrupts village life. When conflict reaches her doorstep, Alana is separated from her family and forced to set out alone — using her cunning and knowledge of both worlds to stay alive, while shadowy forces grow ever closer to discovering who she really is.

Having survived war, famine, and life on the run, Alana now faces a challenge unlike any before: school. Within the Bergond Academy of Mages, she must contend with wealthy nobles, political intrigues, and the awkward terrain of adolescent friendships and romance — all while keeping her past life a secret. As her skill in spellcasting, magical-item creation, and combat outpaces her peers, Alana's professors begin to notice. She must balance her otherworldly knowledge with the need for discretion, even as war looms closer and the academy itself may not survive what is coming.

Alana wakes to find the kingdom conquered, her school destroyed, and her parents back in her life — under the rule of Lord Durin, whose right-hand man turns out to be her father. Navigating courtly manners and noble obligations she would rather ignore, Alana must protect her friends, salvage her relationships, and find time to graduate — all while Durin's grip on power remains dangerously fragile.

Newly graduated and nearly two decades into her second life, Alana sets out on a quest to uncover long-buried secrets in the kingdom of the elves. The voyage tests her from the first moment — a hurricane whale, goblin encounters, and a less-than-friendly welcome await — but none of those trials compare to what she finds on arrival: an ancient power that could transform Bergond forever, and a startling connection to the life she thought she had left behind.

Commissioned by Emperor Durin to establish a magical portal linking the capital to the far north, Alana's mission is plagued from the outset — someone knows about it and will do anything to stop her. Meanwhile, her Earthly past is catching up with her in ways that could have catastrophic consequences. Untangling a tricky conundrum of time and space while evading shadowy threats and dangerous rumors that could expose her otherworldly origins, Alana must bring the gates online before everything falls apart.

Now part of the new government's research and development team, Alana teaches three promising students in the art of bardic magic while slowly pushing her own core to its highest level. When a royal ball erupts in violence, she joins the fight without hesitation — and as a trusted advisor to Emperor Durin with the fate of the empire at stake, she must bring her fiercest resources to bear, even while mourning deeply personal losses.
