When alien beings address all of humanity, they deliver a warning: forces that destroyed their species' males are heading for Earth. In exchange for access to the System, they ask only for cooperation and survival. Mathew Alexander Dunphy knows it's all a lie. He saw the truth with his own eyes. Nobody believes him. They call him mad. In a world of alien-controlled survival games, Mathew fights back with mad-scientist ingenuity, crafting-based powers, and a stubborn refusal to let either the aliens or the apocalypse win.

When alien beings address humanity, they claim forces that destroyed their own males are heading for Earth — and offer access to the System in exchange for cooperation. Mathew Alexander Dunphy knows it's a lie. He heard it from their own mouths. Nobody believes him. They call him mad. He's about to prove them right, in the best possible way.

The first week of the alien survival program claimed two of Mathew's friends. Now his group is pushed into a sector with even higher threat levels — biometal behemoths and airborne dinosaurs included. But Mathew refuses to let innocents die, refuses to let the space elves escape their crimes, and refuses to bow. A safe haven free of mind control will be built. His oppressors will fall. His inventions may not have been enough before — perhaps an undying fortress will be.

Mathew has tamed his sector, shared knowledge of how to gain power, and built a base that can sustain his group. Only the final part of his mission remains: destroy the mind-control pylon. But his enemy is smarter, better funded, and willing to break the System's rules to stop him. Too bad Mathew doesn't know how to give up.
