Headshot has just gone live, and the whole world is playing the new Artificial Reality blockbuster. Unless you can buy your way onto the Survivor's side, you participate as a Zombie — every week the Apocalypse starts over and the forces tear each other apart. Ryan has played the beta for months, but now that Headshot has launched, he finds it consuming his life. He's trying to figure out if there's actually a way to win without paying to play — but something sinister is going on beneath the surface of the game, and he's wrapped up in it whether he likes it or not.

Headshot is live and the whole world is playing. Unless you can pay, you fight as a Zombie — every week the Apocalypse resets and the carnage begins again. Ryan has played the beta for months, but now the game is consuming his life as he tries to find a way to succeed without paying to win. Something sinister is going on beneath Headshot's surface, and Ryan is caught up in it whether he likes it or not.

Ryan's plan to survive the server wipe may have succeeded, but at what cost. He's willing to sacrifice a lot to settle scores with those who betrayed him — but when a larger, darker, and far more complicated world opens up before him, he must decide whether to make his own destiny or frantically try to log out for the final time.

Captured by Deep Dive and broken by the nefarious Desmond, Ryan has been turned into a weapon used to destroy the company's competitors. Months have passed; with Sasha off the grid and Ryan brainwashed, the relaunch of Headshot may finally achieve its ultimate goal — malicious, unprecedented access to the thoughts of its players. But a part of Ryan remains rebellious. To crush that last shred of resistance, Desmond plugs him back into Headshot as a lone Zombie against a worldwide legion of Survivors intent on destroying him.
