Hawkin's Magic Beers

Hawkin rejected adventure to pursue a slower pace of living. Isolated in the wilderness far from civilization, he fends for himself using the axe he earned on the Lumberjack quest path — the quest path he'd gladly disabled long ago. After ten rugged years alone in the northern forests, visitors begin to appear: first an ancient monster who becomes more friend than foe, then a lost trio of monks who share a beer so good that Hawkin is moved to return to the system he'd abandoned. Dellia, one of a thousand gods, seeks Hawkin's help to expand her influence among humans, promising to guide him toward becoming one of the greatest brewers the world has ever known. Hawkin's only condition: he never leaves his woods. When goblins encroach on his territory, he forges an alliance with unlikely companions and sets forth on a journey to brew magic beer.

Hawkin distributes ethereal beer — a novel offering — to the city of Lavenfauvish. Now at silver rank, he continues to level up along the Brewer's quest path with the help of newfound friends, including Abigail Yak, a gold-rank Brewer, and Thrush, a nightream with an almost insatiable appetite. Desperate to be the only seller of Hawkin's beers, a rival gold-rank Brewer considers taking a risk that may not be worth the consequences. When Hawkin brews specialty beer for friends of Abigail's, his Brewer's Reputation drastically increases, drawing seekers from all walks of life — and the ire of Margaux, a scornful diamond-rank Brewer who decides Hawkin and his companions have become too much of a nuisance to tolerate.

What does it take to become the best brewer in the world? Hawkin finds great success distributing ethereal beers while struggling to break into gold rank and brew his elusive golden chapter beer. After earning the title of Champion Oude Brewer, adventurers are even more keen to seek him out. Meanwhile, Boggo sets off on his most terrifying quest since setting paws above ground, Barnacle-eyes is determined to build a fleet for hard-working goblins, and the ravenous Thrush falls into blinding starvation. As Hawkin levels up alongside Abigail, the two brewers consider their future together — and Hawkin must decide if the cost of following his quest path is worth the reward of the journey.
