Power Day occurs every year on September 15 — the day formerly ordinary people awaken with superhuman abilities and receive their labels: Hero or Villain. It's also Emily Wright's first day on campus. While everyone else celebrates, Emily hides in her dorm room, wondering if she can earn a degree while avoiding all eye contact. Instead, she's granted a superpower and categorized as villainous. Panicking, she inadvertently conjures a pint-sized supervillain sidekick. Emily has no intention of doing anything evil with her powers. But if she has to babysit an increasing number of "little sisters" to stay under the radar, so be it. The question is whether she can gain control of her life — or drown in a sea of supervillainy and cuddles.

Emily Wright was prepared to spend her first year on campus under the radar, propelled by the force of her social anxiety. Fate cursed her with Sister Summoning instead — five "sisters" who popped into existence on Power Day, leaving her officially categorized as a villain. Now known as the Boss, Emily must keep her villainy a secret while babysitting her supersiblings. With volunteer minion Sam in tow, she takes over the local protection racket just to clothe and feed her family. Her no-evil-intent policy is firmly in place — but word of the Boss's gang is spreading, placing Emily squarely in the crosshairs of some powerful enemies.

A kinetic manipulator named Rattles has torn through Eauclaire's defenses, leaving buildings in ruins and heroes falling — and now he's coming for the city's criminal mastermind herself. Standing in his way is Emily Wright's gang of teenage sisters, wielding animal-kingdom powers in the name of their leader, the Boss. Emily still doesn't want to be a villain — she's just a college student trying to keep her sisters safe. But the attacks persist, and her fragile empire begins to crumble. To protect everyone she cares about, Emily must form an uneasy alliance with Glamazon and the Heroic Response Force. The battle for Eauclaire will force her to decide once and for all: hero, villain, or something far more dangerous.
