Rockland Barkclay has had a rough year. His father has just passed, and Rocky has to go it alone on their annual camping trip. But his plans for drinking alone in Algonquin Park are rudely interrupted when Ether — the driving force of creation — returns to Earth and Gaia awakens. Now a confused Rocky must navigate odd hovering messages to survive, as humans are thrown into a desperate fight to live in an evolving world. If only Gaia hadn't woken up so very, very unhinged.

Three weeks into the apocalypse, buildings literally stood up, fearsome monsters materialized, and humanity's way of life changed forever. Now Rockland Barkclay must protect his people from a new threat — otherworldly invasions and nuclear meltdowns converted to dark power — while heeding the warning of his resurrected Ancestral Guide, who has noticed the edges of an ancient conspiracy. Something dark and twisted lurks in the Atlantean System, and the apocalypse isn't over — it's just luring everyone into a false sense of security.

Rockland Barkclay was saved and pulled into an alternate realm moments before his death — only to open his eyes reborn on the altar. Gaia has ordered the Golems to protect humanity, but their 'protection' is sending humanity to the brink of starvation. Rocky needs to find his family and his only option is to search through survivors one by one. Every person saved increases the Grotto's population, but is also another mouth to feed — and after saving thousands, he still hasn't found a single familiar face.

Rockland is reeling from the loss of his family. Pulled from the path of self-destruction, Rocky learns how to use violence to achieve his goals in the apocalypse as Meliora's enemies have allied to wipe out anyone in their way. There's a secret the Mechanolords are concealing — a place of power they need to access to achieve their true goals: the lost city of Atlantis. Everyone needs the oldest place of power in existence, but the Legendary guardian would rather destroy the planet than fail to protect the newly arisen sanctum.

The Mechano Lord's Leader is finally locked out — but Earth is far from safe. With the Guild Collective's invasion looming, Rocky focuses on his Territory, Dungeon Development, and Place of Power, finally seeing real gains. But across the world, ancient forces stir and hordes spill from hidden strongholds. If Rocky doesn't act, there won't be a world left to defend when the invasion arrives.
