A massive wormhole rips open above Earth and aliens arrive — not conquerors, but merchant traders called the Iglax, who offer advanced technology in exchange for cheap labor in the asteroid belt. The aliens test humans individually for miner rentals, and a skilled pilot can earn a spaceship and a contract. When one puddle-jumper pilot tests above and beyond all expectations, he is offered something better than a mining ship: Earth's First StarFighter.

A massive wormhole rips open above Earth and aliens arrive — not conquerors, but the hip-high Iglax, merchant traders who offer advanced technology in exchange for cheap labor mining the asteroid belt. The aliens test humans individually. Do well on the pilot test, get a spaceship, sign up with a corp, and you can mine the belt. When one obsessed pilot finally tests, he performs above and beyond — and is offered something better than a miner: Earth's First StarFighter.

Darius has enjoyed a nice break from his intense introduction to the GGA. With Earth in limbo and a lost colony likely in need of help, he knows his vacation is on borrowed time. When life is turned upside down again, he ventures back into the stars, helping those he can when he can — family bonds tight and dangers ever-present.

When Darius's newly founded colony on Umbria Prime is attacked, he fights off the raiders and finds clues that humanity's old foes — the Iglax — are to blame. Once again he must return to the galaxy at large to upgrade his ships, advance his skills, and spread humanity further among the stars. Along the way, Darius will test-fly alien starships, establish a starfighter academy, terraform a triple-planet star system, and face down the galaxy's best pilot in a winner-takes-all contest.

The Iglax Star Empire has tried twice to throttle humanity before it could expand beyond Sol. With each attempt, humanity has grown stronger, spread across more star systems, and found new allies. Now the Iglax are preparing for war. Darius Rutledge, reluctant leader of his species, knows that the Navarre system is key to victory. It's up to him to help turn the tide through colonization, terraforming, mining, and building a battle fleet from scratch.
