James thought he would be just another adventurer in the world's most anticipated dungeon-delving VRMMORPG. But when he logs in, he finds out he will not be diving the dungeon — he will be creating it. Things go sideways immediately when he chooses Random as his dungeon type and summons his first mob: a fearsome, bloodthirsty demonic chicken. Still, demonic farm animals are the least of his worries. His AI guide drinks too much and gambles too freely, a mysterious figure is watching his every move, and the Random dungeon keeps producing mobs that defy all expectations.

War is coming. DCO's latest patch has finally made it possible for dungeons to interact with one another, meaning it is time for some player-vs-player action. More importantly, it means James and BLANK will finally settle their score on the Fields of Battle — and if James loses, he will be forced to leave DCO for good. With everything on the line, James and Rue must prepare for the onslaught and grow their dungeon as fast as possible. The Random dungeon still has a few tricks up its sleeve, including an entire new floor and the most powerful and terrifying Random mobs yet.

Dungeon Wars has ended and peace reigns across DCO — for a moment. With his fourth floor to build and his relationship with Rue to enjoy, James is ready to immerse himself in everything DCO has to offer, including new sea mechanics and another set of ridiculous random mobs. But as DCO grows and new Dungeon Gates allow travel between dungeons, its economic impact on the real world increases tenfold. Where there is wealth, there are those who wish to take it. James is about to learn that the real world is far more sinister than the virtual one.

With a dangerous hacker group defeated, James is ready to get back to dungeon shenanigans. A lot of upgrades to DCO were implemented without him while he was away, and now he is diving headfirst into all of it — new floors, new levels, and a rematch against a certain winged lizard cult. James is back where he belongs, running his dungeon and hanging out with Rue. But DCO is full of distractions, and one new game mode is set to keep him occupied in more ways than he could ever imagine. For the first time, James can finally run the dungeon himself.

James receives a mysterious invitation from Hades and is confronted with a truth that is impossible to deny — one that sets him on a collision course with the most powerful figures in the world and could spell the end of DCO itself. With an impossible task ahead, James and Rue embark on one last dive together: one last new floor, one last set of random mobs. But the shenanigans can only distract them for so long. A final worldwide event is coming, and if James and his friends cannot stop it, it is game over for everyone.
