Death Cultivator

When regular high schooler Grady Hake is mistakenly taken by the Angel of Death, he thinks his life is over. Then he wakes up on a prison shuttle bound for Van Diemann's Planet, a penal colony run by brutal gangs of criminal cultivators. To survive, he'll have to learn to harness his unique Death Spirit, make friends with alien outcasts, appease a band of hungry ghosts, and fight his way into one of the strongest gangs on the planet.

Death cultivator Grady Hake thought his problems would disappear once he and his friends joined the strongest gang on the prison planet. Instead, it thrust them into the kill-or-be-killed world of the Eight-Legged Dragons. As Hake undergoes the trials of his gang, he discovers there's a deadlier force on the planet than even the Angel of Death — and it wants his soul.

Grady Hake has had to learn many harsh realities since he was dropped onto the prison planet. Here, Spirit is power, and trying to do the right thing can spark a gang war. Now assigned as the avenging angel for the Eight-Legged Dragons, Hake must come to terms with the hardest truth yet: others have to die for him to get stronger. He never wanted to be a killer — but his friends' lives are on the line, and he has a lot of killing to do.
