Max was a professional soldier — extremely good at his job, right up until it killed him. Meeting Hildi the Valkyrie at the moment of his death, he is offered three choices: serve Odin in Valhalla, accept his death, or be reincarnated as a Battleborne on a random unknown world. Max chooses to gamble. Reborn with a monster bloodline in a world of magic and creatures, he must use his soldier's skills to improvise and survive — because at level zero, nearly everything can kill him.

Max has gathered friends, made enemies, and developed new magical and physical abilities in his chimera body. Max and company pursue their epic quest to restore the Heart of the Mountain, finding new enemies and surprising allies along the way. A growing threat from the mountains to the north endangers Stormhaven and its neighbors. Looking to expand his kingdom and population, Max leads a party to the newest human kingdom — where he learns about a ruthless Battleborne queen and discovers that dungeons are both real and deadly.

King Maximilian Storm faces new challenges as a Sovereign: every action he takes impacts the lives of his people instead of just himself.
