Dhane kicked the bucket in spectacular fashion — every bone crushed against the full force of a 40-ton garbage truck. His soul bounced into the abyss between worlds, drifting until an excited soul watcher fished him out and found him a new home: a heaven for gamers, with classes, killing mobs, and a beautiful fantasy world full of mysteries. At least, it would have been those things if his first day had gone a little differently. Instead, he finds himself locked in an eternal conflict between light and shadow — potentially as the enemy to all — while learning what it means to be an Arachnomancer.

Heaven sucks — not with the talking spiders, evil priests of Light, and war. Those of Light simply wouldn't leave the fledgling village of Dedu Tedu Novus alone, and seven declarations of war made that crystal clear. In a series of escalating misfortunes, the stray King of Shadows finds himself somewhere he really ought not to be. Dhane must uncover forgotten truths, form alliances with monsters, and take a stroll in the most dangerous places a Shadow can be.

The terrible Army of Light knows the secret location of Dedu Tedu Novus. War is here — there's no avoiding it. Or is there? Dhane does the most unthinkable: he employs an impromptu plan of the dangerous, crazy variety, embarking on a new adventure where it rains every day and the problems don't stop. Can he save his village? Can he convince Challenger Sarah to help? Or is he only putting off the inevitable, the point where the Changed Reditai turn all those of Shadow into stone?
