The most Arthur could hope for was to someday earn a trash-tier spell card. When fate grants him a Master of Skills card instead, he is thrust into a world of opportunity and danger. To survive and grow strong, Arthur must learn skills — all the skills.

With his new Master of Body Enhancement card slotted into his heart deck, Arthur is discovering how to pair it with his powerful Master of Skills card. Time is not on his side. A once-in-a-generation Legendary dragon egg has been laid — but the competition to bond with it will pit Arthur against the most powerful card wielders of his generation, including his own cousin.

Arthur now stands among the elite as a Legendary card wielder, forever linked to a frighteningly powerful dragon named Brixaby — who is, for the moment, the size of a parrot. A chance encounter whisks them away to a Free Hive outside the kingdom, a place untouched by the scourge infecting the rest of the world, where crafting using card powers is king. But an old enemy threatens from the shadows, and the Free Hive cannot defend itself. Arthur and Brixaby must grow stronger — and that means more skills and more cards.

Using a new Legendary treasure-seeking card, Arthur and Brixaby travel to an unknown kingdom in search of a way to defeat the scourglings. They arrive on a continent where there have been no dragons for generations, where human civilization shrinks within cities increasingly squeezed by dead lands. In the core of the city rests the dark heart of an ancient scourgling eruption — and it is reawakening. The dungeon offers new powers, secrets to scourgling origins, and high-level cards for those brave enough to delve deep and survive.

With his heart deck expanded to wield more cards than ever before, Arthur, Brixaby, and their growing retinue head back to their home kingdom to delve into Blood Moon hive — a place riddled with whispers of assassins, death, and a shadowy leader whose power grows while his people wither. To find Brixaby's next Legendary card, Arthur and Brixaby must infiltrate the hive under magical disguise. What they find is a broken leadership system — one that Arthur, with his unique skills, is uniquely positioned to fix. But the hive's leadership will not step aside willingly, and they have Legendary cards of their own.
