Anya Nowicki, along with thousands of people around the globe, has found herself a host for alien technology known as the Archive. The Archive allows its hosts to alter their minds and bodies in an instant through holographic menu systems — granting super strength, magical abilities, or mastery in an almost infinite number of skills. However, Anya has also become the target for nightmarish shape-shifting creatures that came to Earth following the extraterrestrial tech. The Archive can grant great power, but it may not be enough to survive the horde of murderous aliens hunting them down.

Anya Nowicki, along with thousands of people around the globe, has found herself a host for alien technology known as the Archive. The Archive allows its hosts to alter their minds and bodies in an instant through holographic menu systems — granting super strength, magical abilities, or mastery across an almost infinite number of skills. However, Anya has also become the target for nightmarish, shape-shifting creatures that followed the extraterrestrial tech to Earth. The Archive can grant great power, but it may not be enough to survive the horde of murderous aliens hunting them down.

Following her victory against the aliens in Washington, Anya Nowicki has allied herself with the Department of Extraterrestrial Research and a newly formed organization. Other hosts for the Archive have also joined, dedicating their time to honing their supernatural abilities and searching for whatever aliens remain on Earth. The hostile creatures known as gnosiphages have gone into hiding, but they have not remained idle. Hosts have been vanishing overnight, along with many civilians across the globe. Something is still out there, stalking mankind, building its own power.

After the alien invasion, Anya Nowicki thought she'd settle into a cushy government job in the world's most advanced city. She was right, for a while. Earth's recent success against the gnosiphages has drawn the eyes of other extraterrestrial life. Three powerful warriors have been sent to observe Earth's hosts — and if necessary, put them down for good. Worse, the brief period of global unification experienced during the invasion is already straining, as a shadowy group of Archive-enhanced terrorists begins to emerge.

With the latest threat to Earth stopped, all Anya wanted was to rest. Instead she was arrested by the Cosmic Wardens and taken off-planet in a single evening. Samaira, Pan, and their friends remain stranded on Earth, locked within a powerful containment field. If they want to save Anya, they'll need to find a way off-planet and across the infinite sea of stars — assuming they can even find her. With a power-mad Warden Commander, space pirates, wild gnosiphage swarms, and every other danger the far reaches of space can offer, it's a long way home.

After their excursion to so-called "civilized space," Anya and her friends have returned to Earth. Then a heavily-armed ship from the Luorian Galactic Union appears in the solar system — this time offering diplomacy: no more quarantine fields, no more Cosmic Wardens, and maybe some advanced tech as an apology. The catch is the Union needs help clearing a nest of several hundred thousand bloodthirsty gnosiphages. Anya is also tasked with contacting other galactic powers to ensure humanity is never alone again — a mission that will take her to the heart of the Empire, the Citadel of the Cosmic Wardens, and one of the darkest corners of the Union.
