Accidental Traveler

Hal Dix is stuck in an unlucky life — until a strange woman at a flea market sells him a bootleg early release of the Fantasma game. Whisked away into the game world he only wanted to play for a weekend, Hal enters a realm desperate for a hero and becomes the Accidental Thief — and perhaps the mythical hero of prophecy.

Things were going well for Hal Dix after his first outing into Fantasma — he leveled up at work and at home. Then the mage Tildi, the Elder, returns with news: his friend is in trouble and only Hal can help. Whisked back into Fantasma against his better judgment, Hal once again steps into the role of reluctant hero and discovers his place as the mythical hero of prophecy.

Hal Dix returns home from Fantasma to find his greatest nightmare has come true. A personal tragedy drags him back into the game world one final time. Seeking help from his comrades, Hal must master magic — training under four cantankerous archmages to complete his quest. He must find the discipline to reach the end of his chosen path before it's too late.
