Jade has spent her life fighting boredom in the terminally ill ward — always envying those who could go out and experience the world. She knew a normal life was beyond her reach. Then she wakes up without the sounds of her life support and finds herself with a weak but healthy body in a magical world. Ten days since Jade finally got out — out of the hospital bed, out of the city walls, and way outside her comfort zone. The wilderness is a terrifying place, especially when you're hunting mesmer and everything else is hunting you. Getting out of the forest won't get her out of the woods. She'll need to navigate court politics and foreign policy if she wants to survive in one piece — and those state affairs will prove at least as difficult as fighting her way through the wilds.
