A Soldier's Life

Thrown into a fantasy world with nothing, an unfortunate soul is quickly railroaded into joining the Legion and must develop under harsh conditions while slowly discovering his potential. The story has light LitRPG elements with a stat and magic advancement system. The MC is not overpowered and experiences the pain of growth as he tries to find his place in a strange new world while staying alive — neither of which come easily, as his company is constantly in harm's way.

The politics of the Telhian Empire take center stage as Eryk and his company navigate dangers within the Empire. Expecting some well-earned rest after his harrowing experience in Macha, Eryk finds that things are never that simple as he continues to grow and mature as a soldier.

As Eryk's closely guarded secrets teeter on the brink of exposure within the company, he finds himself navigating treacherous waters. His mage company ventures on a harrowing expedition to uncover the whereabouts of a legendary lost dungeon — The Shimmering Labyrinth. A hidden adversary threatens them from a distance, and the undertaking will serve as the ultimate test for Eryk and his allies.

The company returns to the capital of the Telhian Empire, but Eryk is not safe. First Citizens plot against him, though he finds allies and reluctantly joins a conspiracy against the Emperor. His tribulations are far from over: he must now survive becoming one of the Empire's elite Hounds.

Free from the Empire, Eryk flees with Maveith, following a thread of hope that Maveith's sister is still alive. To conceal their true objective on the perilous cross-continental journey, the pair take up work as mercenary adventurers — with no guarantee of success.

Returning Maveith's people home to Stone Mountain Island becomes a quest to heal Castile. After months on the island, Konstantin, Gilda, Eryk, and Raelia travel to the renowned city of Godok — known by its residents as the greatest city on Desia, a massive sprawl where adventure finds you.
